WELCOME TO GEOMETRY! 2009-2010
Mr. Geluck (mrggeometry.pbworks.com)
This class will provide you with a basic understanding of the topics in Euclidean (Planar) Geometry.
Required Materials: Each day you will bring your pencil, notebook, notes, homework, folder, and scientific calculator (no graphing calculator needed).
Grading Components: Grades will be updated weekly on the Aeries system. It is your responsibility to keep updated on your grade. Your grade will consist of the following items:
Homework: Homework assignments will be checked randomly at the beginning of the class period for ten points. If you do not have your homework, it is an automatic zero.
Skill Tests: Skill tests will be given over Geometry standards. You will be given four attempts at each skill. The top two scores will count for your grade and will be graded out of ten points each. (This is a good deal!)
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given during chapters and will cover 3-4 sections each.
Tests: Tests will be given at the end of each chapter. They will cover the entire chapter. There will also be a final exam at the end of each semester worth 15% of your overall grade.
Grading Scale: Your grade will be calculated on a weighted average as follows:
Tests: 35% Quizzes: 10% Skill Tests: 20% Homework: 20% Final: 15%
Overall grade will be scaled as follows:
A (90% & up) B (80-89%) C (70-79%) D (60-69%) F (59% & below)
Absences and Make-Up Work: If you are absent it is your responsibility to get all make-up work to me. You will have the number of days missed multiplied by two to get your work made up. NO MAKE-UP POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES OR TARDIES! When you return, all worksheets and assignments will be in your class’s folder in the back of the class with your name on it. Get these materials without disturbing the class. Make-up quizzes, skill tests, and tests will be kept with me.
Extra Help: Math can be stressful! Please come in for help whenever you need it. I am here by 8:00 most mornings. Please schedule a time to meet if you cannot come in the morning. I will do all I can to accommodate your schedule. High school students are busy people.
